Down with Love, with Renée Zellweger and Ewan McGregor, opened in movie theatres on May 16, 2003.
"It's an alarmingly narrow audience that will appreciate the parody-romance 'Down With Love': people who can adore Doris Day/Rock Hudson comedies . . . while also laughing at them as goofy schlock.  Since that demographic includes most movie critics, I'm unembarrassed to say I enjoyed myself a lot, even if this giddily retro Renee Zellweger-Ewan McGregor vehicle shifts tone the way a bicycle shifts gears."--Ty Burr in the Boston Globe of March 16, 2003.

What the soundtrack CD offers is, on the whole, pleasant 1960's type background music.  The two selections that I especially like are "For Once in My Life" sung by Michael Bublé (which you could get on his CD) and "Fly Me to the Moon (In Other Words)" sung by Astrud Gilberto.  Most of the music is not very interesting.

The selections are:

“Down with Love”—Michael Bublé and Holly Palmer sing the song with music by Harold Arlen.

“Barbara Arrives”—music by Marc Shaiman.  Generic 1960’s style movie music.

“Fly Me to the Moon (In Other Words)—Frank Sinatra with Count Basie and his Orchestra

“One Mint Julep”—Xavier Cougat and his Orchestra

“For Once in My Life”—Michael Bublé

“Girls Night Out”—brief bit of background music with chorus, music written by Marc Shaiman.

“Every Day Is a Holiday (With You)”—Esthero.  Mediocre song with an annoying beat and “la-la-la” type singing, and even some hand-clapping toward the end.

“Kissing a Fool”—Michael Bublé.  I like his voice, but the song is not very interesting.

“Barbara Meets Zip”—movie background music by Marc Shaiman.  Devoid of interest.

“Fly Me to the Moon (In Other Words)”—Astrud Gilberto.

“Love in Three Acts”—more movie music by Marc Shaiman.

“Here’s to Love”—Renée Zellweger and Ewan McGregor have pleasant voices, and they are both cute in the video, but the music by Marc Shaiman is nothing special.
