Bruno Campanella conducted the Metropolitan Opera's premiere of Il Pirata on October 21, 2002, with Renée Fleming as Imogene, Marcello Giordani as Gualtiero, and Dwayne Croft as Ernesto. The production was directed by John Copley, the set designer wass John Conklin, and the lighting was designed by Duane Schuler.
